Simon is a senior telecoms industry executive with extensive experience at plc Board level. He has a
broad and deep technical knowledge of telecoms and IT, combined with a detailed understanding of
business, both large and small.
In 1994 he founded Redstone, a “next generation” telco which grew into a full service national
telecoms operator with 7 switches and the 6th largest fibre network in the UK. Redstone floated on
the LSE in November 1999, was the first company on TechMark and later entered the FTSE350.
Previously, Simon worked on the development of the GSM standards. He chaired ETSI technical
committees responsible for all data aspects of GSM, edited several technical recommendations and
ran Cellnet’s (Now O2) GSM development group.
Simon has assisted several start-ups and is currently a non-exec for Accelleran NV. Based in Antwerp,
Accelleran is widely recognised as the global Cellular Industry’s leading design team delivering the
most innovative and reliable, highest performance and cost-effective small cell designs and has the
most optimised TDD-LTE small cell available today. Simon has helped Accelleran prepare for growth
and helped them complete their funding round in early 2016.
Simon has a degree in Physics from Bath University and is a Chartered Engineer, MIET and AMInstP.
